Dr. Sujit Mohanty

Chief of UNDRR Regional Office for Arab States

Dr. Sujit Mohanty is the Chief of UNDRR Regional Office for Arab States. With 20 years of experience in disaster risk management, humanitarian coordination, development, and climate change, he worked with UNOCHA, UNDP and UNDRR. Dr. Mohanty previously held positions as the Head a.i and Regional Platform Coordinator for UNDRR Asia Pacific office in Bangkok, Thailand (2011-2017) and in Geneva (2006-2011). He also served as Chief Technical Adviser for Risk Information Systems in UNOCHA Sri Lanka and Manager, Disaster Information Systems in UNDP, India. He holds a PhD in Media and Governance and dual master’s degrees in business administration and computer science.
